Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA) - the country’s oldest and largest nationwide brain injury advocacy organisation. 

Brainline - a national multimedia project offering information and resources about preventing, treating, and living with TBI.

Center for Disease Control and Prevention - research and programs to prevent TBI and help people better recognize, respond, and recover if a TBI occurs.

Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center (DVBIC) - provides support to active-duty military, their beneficiaries, and veterans with TBI through state-of-the-art science clinical care, innovative clinical research initiatives and educational programs.

Ohio Valley Center for Brain Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation (OVC) - conducts research, provides education and develops programs to improve the quality of life of persons who experience TBI. Located at Wexner Medical Center at Ohio State University.

United Kingdom

 

BISWG (The Brain Injury Social Work Group) - a membership organisation for social workers and other medical, legal and health professionals who work in the field of brain injury. 

BISWG aims to connect professionals by:

  • providing education and resources which enhance skills and knowledge, particularly to social care professionals

  • raising awareness and standards of information

  • producing publications about brain injury

  • working collaboratively with other organisations



The Child Brain Injury Trust - supports families and professionals affected by childhood acquired brain injury across the UK.  The charity supports families in hospital, home and school through its Model of Integrated Support, a helpline (0303 303 2248), information, e-learning, conferences and fact sheets.

 

Children’s Trust – the largest children’s residential brain injury rehabilitation unit in the UK and also offers a nationwide community service for children and young people with ABI. The website has links to specialist ABI information, news, research, blogs and a forum for family members to exchange information and advice. 

 

Head First – an independent provider of specialist brain injury case management services and medico-legal reporting in the UK and Europe (globally in the case of medico-legal work) and runs the UK’s largest one day ABI conference. The website has links to research undertaken by the organisation. 

 

Headway – the brain injury association is the UK-wide charity that works to improve life after brain injury. Through a range of frontline services, and via a network of groups and branches across the UK, the charity provides support, information and rehabilitation services to help people rebuild their lives following brain injury, while supporting carers and family members. The charity also supports professionals working in the field.

 

UKABIF (United Kingdom Acquired Brain Injury Forum) – aims to promote better understanding of all aspects of ABI; to educate, inform and provide networking opportunities for professionals, service providers, planners and policy makers and to campaign for better services in the UK. It is a membership organisation and charity established in 1998 by a coalition of organisations working in the filed of ABI.
