Elly Nadorp

Qualifications: Master of Social Work, Registered Clinical Social Worker

Organization: Elly presently works as a Care Coordinator with Arnprior Regional Health-AROW Health Link, Ottawa, Canada.

For the past year, Elly has been part time employed as a Care Coordinator for clients with 4 or more medical conditions and social determinants of health impacting on their health. The goals of Care Coordination are to provide a coordinated and client centred approach so clients can be served in their own homes and communities and reduce number of visits to doctors, emergency rooms and inpatient hospitalizations.

Elly was a social worker with The Ottawa Hospital Rehabilitation Program from 1989-2015. Of her 26 year career with The Ottawa Hospital, she worked more than 15 years with clients with a brain injury, as inpatients, outpatients and in day hospital.  Elly also was the Professional Practice Coordinator of Social Work at The Ottawa Hospital Rehabilitation Centre from 2002-2015.

Elly was actively involved in hospital and community based rehabilitation program development for people with a brain injury in the city of Ottawa and the surrounding rural areas.

Elly has facilitated ABI client and family education and support groups, and she has presented locally and internationally on topics pertaining to the impact of brain injury on family coping. A particular area of interest has been on helping clients and their families with the transition from hospital to community.

Since 2009, Elly has been trained in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy for people with an Acquired Brain Injury and she has been facilitating MBCT groups for clients with an Acquired Brain Injury ever since.

Involvement with INSWABI:Elly has been an executive INSWABI member since 2010 and she has found the networking with international colleagues to be informative, educational and useful in her clinical work with clients and their families.
